PCNL is a surgical technique used to remove large stones from kidney or upper ureter which are too big or in inappropriate position to be removed by totally endoscopic means. It involves putting an endoscope through a very small cut in the back (about 1 cm). Patients are typically sent home within a day after treatment. PCNL provides almost 100% complete stone removal in the shortest amount of time.
