The options for treating bladder cancer depend on a number of factors, including the type of cancer, the stage of cancer and the stage of cancer, the considerations and your overall health and treatment options.
Treatment for bladder cancer may include:
-Surgery, removal of cancer cells
-Intravesical chemotherapy, the treatment of cancer that is trapped in the bladder but is at high risk of recurrence or progression.
-Chemical treatment of the whole body (systemic chemotherapy), increasing the chance of treatment in a surgical person to remove the bladder, or as a basic treatment where surgery is not an option.
-Radiation therapy, the destruction of cancer cells, is often the primary treatment where surgery is not optional or unwanted.
-Immunotherapy, initiating the immune system to fight cancer cells, can be in the bladder or throughout the body.
-Targeted treatment, treatment of advanced cancer where other treatments do not help
A combination of treatments may be recommended by your doctor and members of your care team.
